WHO WE ARE

RefHub Limited is an IT Assets Disposition (ITAD) Services Company offering end-to-end solutions to managing the life cycle of ICT hardware.

WHAT WE DO

Our suite of solutions and services cover resale, repair for reuse, and disposal for recycling services.

Remarketing Services:

RefHub is Kenya’s premier Circular Marketplace that links sellers and buyers of used and unused network and IT hardware. We provide a simple and easy way for companies to dispose this equipment to a ready market (consisting of service providers and enthusiasts) looking to reduce the cost of doing business by repurposing used and functional equipment. Our catalog of network and related hardware up for resale on our platform includes Wireless Systems, Routing and Switching systems, Servers, Fiber Optics, Power and Backup, Surveillance, and many more.

Sellers get the opportunity Recover part of their investment by offloading used and unused technology products that are piling, lying idle and wasting away in stores, to be repurposed. Buyers get to Repurpose the unused and used technology availed on the platform to fullest potential at very affordable prices.

For the buyer, acquiring this technology shall be a bargain as it shall only be a fraction of the total cost of buying new equipment, thus giving them an alternative market for up-to-task technology. Moreover, as we facilitate this trade, interaction and exchange, we are contributing to the circular economy goal, to create an economy that is restorative and regenerative by design, to Reduce and manage e-waste.

Repair-for-Reuse Services:

At RefHub, we are keen to explore all opportunities for ICT hardware for reuse before recycling, to combat the linear use and throw away culture which is unsustainable. In line with the circular economy goal to create an economy that is restorative and regenerative by design, we offer repair, refurbishment, and maintenance services to make sure equipment is optimally functional for reuse to its fullest life without compromising on quality.

Disposal and Recycling Services:

Where network equipment has become obsolete RefHub offers you recycling services through our partner, WEEE Center. This way, we provide a fully managed end-to-end recovery service -from reuse to recycling- to curb the negative impact on the environment caused by e-waste.

WHY WE DO IT

The problem:

Making a new product requires a lot of material and energy, as raw materials must be extracted from the earth, and the product must be fabricated then transported to stores for purchase. Writing off the product after it has gone through such a rigorous manufacturing process, yet it maintains its value, contributes to e-waste otherwise known as Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment [WEEE].

Did you know that e-waste is the world’s fastest growing source of trash? Research indicates that more than 44.7 million tonnes of e-waste is generated annually, with experts noting that irresponsible disposal of electronics has contributed significantly to environmental degradation and an increase in poor health among citizens. As innovators, all players in the tech industry must think of ways of managing and solving this problem; from the designers/manufacturers to the consumers. Mother earth desperately needs a break. She is all we have. There is no Planet B.

The solution:

At RefHub, we believe that the most effective way to reduce e-waste is to not create it in the first place. Rather than following the traditional linear way of make, use and dispose, we adopt the Circular Economy system in which we keep resources in use for as long as possible, extract the maximum value from them whilst in use, then recover and regenerate products and materials at the end of each service life.

Guided by our 3-R principle we aim to responsibly and sustainably;

Recover – We take back the functional technology hardware that is still relevant for use, for repair and/or resale. What was considered trash becomes reusable and earns you money!

Repurpose – By taking back this technology back into the market, we are giving others an opportunity to affordably maximize the potential of the hardware to its full life cycle.

Reduce – When a product’s life cycle is extended to its full potential and limit (has become obsolete) we offer safe disposal and recycling services as a sustainable way to manage and reduce electronic waste.

Therein lies our primary goal: To enlighten all industry players in realizing the economic and environmental benefits of effective resource management, and to help them explore growth opportunities/avenues for businesses.  Don’t write it off yet…it’s still valuable.

WHAT DRIVES US?

Our Vision –To actualize circular economy models and practices aimed at eliminating waste and maximizing the value of hardware resources in Kenya’s ICT industry.

Our Mission – To provide end-to-end ICT sustainability services and solutions to companies and organizations aimed at managing the life cycle their ICT equipment.

Our Goals

Our primary goals are anchored on our 3 Rs of sustainability;

To Recover technology and investment – We revive broken equipment for reuse within your organization or help you find and connect with like-minded enthusiasts who can take it off your hands in exchange for money.

To Repurpose technology – If it is no longer serving your intended purpose, it could be useful elsewhere. Don’t write it off yet, it could still be valuable.

To Reduce e-waste – If it’s obsolete, safely and responsibly dispose it for recycling.

Our Core Values:

Stewardship – At RefHub, we are committed to building business and environmentally sustainable initiatives and practices both locally and globally for a company’s best interest. Environmental concerns are essential to our decision making, and we are committed to helping everyone understand the value of safe equipment disposal to a ready market to make and save money.

Sustainability – At RefHub, we advocate for sustainable business strategies for management and coordination of financial and environmental concerns to ensure responsible, ethical and ongoing success. This opens us up to perspectives and ideas, leading us to innovate sustainable practices (for the economy and the environment) to ensure businesses stand a chance of being more successful tomorrow than it is today, and remain successful throughout.

Prosperity – RefHub is a private, for-profit company with a mission to protect business interests and the environment; that’s how we define our success. Our aim is to deliver services and products in a manner that consistently meets or exceeds these needs, and to do this in a friendly, responsive manner. It enables us to grow, initiate, risk, work hard and to become advocates and stewards. Yes, it is possible to do well by doing good.

PARTNER WITH US TODAY

The Kenya Digital Economy Blueprint and National Broadband Strategy envision Kenya to be a nation where every citizen, enterprise and organization has digital access and the capability to participate and thrive in the digital economy. This has brought about an exponential and rapid adoption of new technology which mostly runs on hardware. There is a risk however, in that such a quick evolution in technology adoption renders former versions of hardware obsolete. If left unmanaged, all this hardware becomes stockpiles of e-waste in stores. The call therefore is for stewardship, to curb the potential to be a leading e-waste hub instead of a digital hub.

It is in our DNA to enlighten all ICT industry players in realizing the economic and environmental benefits of effective resource management, and to help them explore growth opportunities/avenues to build sustainable businesses. In line with the Circular Economy goal to ensure that technology is used to its fullest life cycle with minimum wastage, and responsibly disposed for recycling once obsolete, RefHub seeks to partner with organizations to provide sustainable lifecycle management services for ICT hardware.

Partnering with RefHub means that you get to be an environmental steward playing a global role in the circular economy by:

-Reducing the need to harvest new raw materials by reducing greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global climate change, sustaining the environment for future generations.

-Preserving and give your products a chance to be repurposed and used to their fullest potential, rather than letting them clutter and waste away in stores and warehouses.

-Recovering your investment by connecting and trading with buyers of used and unused technology, keeping your business profitable and sustainable.

More to being an environmental steward, you get to become a compliance champion by fulfilling the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal number 12, aimed at ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns specifically targeted to substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse.  Also, you will also be directly complying with NEMA’s Extended Producer Responsibility obligation in the recently enacted Sustainable Waste Management Act (2022).

Come on board! Let’s do well by doing good.
